Suggested levels: Grade 5-9
This project introduces students to the 4 categories of estuaries. Students learn about the characteristics of different estuaries as they conduct a short introductory research.
The final production requires students to select one significant estuary anywhere in the world for presentation to their peers. Students may choose to present the estuary in an art project, video, podcast or other preferred medium.
The Estuary Basics project instructs students on the 4 categories of estuaries through the use of video and classification charts.
This is a great opportunity for students to conduct and practice research skills that require them to compare/contrast specific characteristics of estuaries as well as recognize and understand how those characteristics make estuaries unique.
This is a great project for upper elementary and middle school students.
