The Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park

SAS (Summative Assessment) | Grade 8 | English

This SAS calls on students to think critically about information they have explored in a related project entitled, "The St. Lawrence Estuary" . Students are instructed to create a summative project, in the media of their choice, in order to provide another class of students a clear understanding of the park and its importance. The introductory video outlines their task and the SAS provides a series of steps in order to complete the task.

A video message from a teacher requesting information on the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park sets students up for the evaluated task in this SAS.

Students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the St. Lawrence Estuary as well as their skill in selecting critical bits of information to relay to an audience of students visiting the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park. In addition, students reveal their creativity in choosing how to share that information. Teachers can select the media form that they want to evaluate or they can leave it up to the imagination of their students.

This SAS stems from information students have acquired in completing "The St. Lawrence Estuary" project.
